ShotPro App Reviews
All the gestures are made for iPad or iPhone. The computer version isn’t letting me rotate the view, or do pretty much anything, and I also can’t figure out how to make a big scene - I bought this to plan out a movie that’s mainly taking place on roadways and needs a lot of space, but they limit the distance from the camera to the background (at least from what I can tell with the limited control I have with the mouse) so it’s useless for trying to plan those scenes. Getting a refund.
I bought the software for one purpose. It is for making animation and stories. The software is easy to use but i recommend to see a video tutorial. There is excellent tutorial on the company web page and also on youtube. After using it, I found out there isn’t enough material (images, (assets), etc…) that comes with the software. But you still can experiment with the assets that comes already with the software. It would be very nice if an option could be add to use our own assets in different format like .jpg, .3ds, etc… I think this software has big potential and can’t wait to see the next version. Thanks and hope my review will help you!
There is no feature to set own music. But the rest of all is quite good. Also I am waiting for graphical updating of the app. And where is ‘I’ information knob at the right high corner in version 2.0.1? It was in previous one.
Total shame! No retina no 5K support, premium membership thing (for who? I paid 50 bucks for the piece!) Bad controls and UI. And lots, lots of details need to be improved. Is it a software for filmmakers at all???
Disappointing. App no longers works as it gets stuck on “Loading Project…” Also have the iPhone/iPad app and the current version crashes on start up. WARNING: Do NOT upgrade!
When the application works, its great and the results are very nice for conveying your point. However, after working on a scene for 3hrs+ and you not only discover that A) You CANT EXPORT/FIND A VIDEO of your scene, but B) YOU CANT FIND/OPEN THE PROJECT FILE!!!! When youre doing this for a client, this is time and money down the drain. Period. I had the program on El Capitan; it didnt work. I downgraded back to Snow Leopard; it didnt work again. This is a useful application, but FAR from a professional one.
I am so happy the OS version is finally here. Just like the iOS version it needs a little polishing, but I am a customer for the long run. Software like this at an affordable rate is a GOD SEND! Not to mention the mobile version is totally revolutionary. I am a Shot Pro fan for life. I think ShotPro is transforming the film industry right before our eyes. The developers have listened to users and continue to put out updates meeting our needs. I know they will continue to do this for the OS version as well.
For the price? Well worth the money. Looking forward to having a little more control would love to be able to move object and characters on the Z access. I know that the most rescent update of my ipad version was a huge advancment. I am hopfull they will build the app up more!
I bought this to storyboard my short film. For the money is such a great product. Aside from the cost, it is and amazing product. I love that there are so many props, characters, and locations you can use for previs. I would like to see and import option, if nothing so I can use pre scouted locations. That aside, I would recommend this to anyone based n ease of use and versatility.
I am a tv director who is always in need of communitcating my vision to producers and cast and crew! This little gem does wonders in getting my ideas from the page to the stage There is definatley room for this softwar to grow but right now it gets the job done…It’s simple intuitive design is what attracted me the most..I can whip up a frame and or movie on my ipad in no time. I hope the designers keep making it better by listening to its clients . I would recommend this highly over expensive storyboard software like Storyboard Quick.(Lame) Add a few more features like: Auto Save New frame should have the same set, camera, lighting choice so you dont have to start from scratch. Bigger library of real world objects Movement shapes..arrows for direction…if I just want a still frame I need to tell the story of which way the camera is moving or action..or exits. Cheers!
First off - does a good job of story visualization (it’s way better than hand drawing). I’ve only just begun to use it but there are some obvious features/capabilities that could improve it. 1. Ability to copy scene setup - so I don’t have to recreate a location for a different shot. 2. Basic copy paste functionality. 3. Movement based on objects focal point (i.e. relative to objects implied direction and not absolute). 4. Movement buttons should set - then let you pick up your mouse to a new area for dragging. 5. Access to movements x,y,z coordinates directly. 6. Better management of scene/meta info (list view with info would be nice).
I purchased the $40 version 2.0 for Mac OS X 10.10.5 and the program is drowning in grey digital pixelation and also unable to open created projects from the landing page. It really is unfortunate when companies release a product for money, not in a trial beta mode, when the bugs make it unworkable as a program.
I am having the same issue as Scribe wolf, the main view is checkered with grey pixels. I actually had to update my OS X to 10.11.3 to download this app, and the whole (painful) effort was wasted in the end. When can we expect a fix for this? Let me know if you need more information. And Id appreciate if you can provide me with a link to a earlier stable version for Mac if 2.0 is not going to be fixed within a week.
Same issue - pixelation all over the place
hoping this is resolved soon. Please fix for mac yosemite. Seems to be working fine in Mavericks.
This is a good program if you want quick and dirty framing, but for what it offers, it has many limitations. Imported obj files cannot be manipulated to fit the scene. Many are too big or the manipulation axis is so far off, that it is unusable. You can’t make the elevation of an object a negative, so if the axis starts at 10m, you’re screwed. And if the object is too big you cannot scale by percent, only by (1x, 2x, ect…) You also cannot custom scale your objects. There is only a “scale by (1x, 2x..)” No way to scale the width, length or height of your objects independently. This can mess up your shots if say, a table is too wide. From what I can see, no imperial measurement selection. You can set a floor grid to feet but none of your measurments are in feet. Good selection of adults, but only one boy and one girl for children types. This severly limits you because you can also only copy an “actor” 3 times. Also no translation for “backgrounds”. Fixing these issues would make it a less frustrating program to work with.
